Based on the classic tale with a very modern message, this version is about gangs, choosing the wrong friends and, of course, not telling the truth. The zesty songs, from lovely ballads to rousing showstoppers, will give singers and dancers a chance to strut their stuff. A cool, hip cricket, Cricky, and a sweet Blue Fairy try to guide the willful puppet past the many temptations that cross his path and teach him to care for others so he can become a real boy. But it's not an easy job. Along the way we meet kindly Geppetto and his skeptical pets, Fluff the Cat and Muff the Mouse. We'll also encounter a mean puppet master and his troupe of dancing puppets, the wily Mr. Fox and Madam Cat, the scoundrel carnival barker and the Gang of Bad Boys. Despite his wayward style, Pinocchio is a likable chap with a good heart. And eventually, when he saves Geppetto from a whale, Pinocchio proves that he does care about others and so becomes a real boy. (A non-musical adaptation of the Pinocchio tale is also available.)
